How to spot a fake deal
- Check the price history. A "was" price that only existed for a few days isn't a real discount; a price tracker shows the truth.
- All 1500 W heaters cost the same to run. "Energy-saving" heaters don't make more heat per watt; a thermostat and timer are what save money.
- Check safety features. Tip-over and overheat protection, and a certification mark (CSA, cUL or ETL).
- Old and new pint ratings differ. Dehumidifier capacity is now quoted on the DOE standard, so an older "50 pint" listing and a new "35 pint" one can be similar. Compare like with like.
